The Mayan Mindbender at Astroworld in Houston

A relatively late addition to the theme park, the Mayan Mindbender was one of the greatest indoor rollercoasters of all time. Built long after most of the park had been completed, the Mayan Mindbender was situated at the most western crner of the park (which would be north if you were looking at a compass and not a map), right between the divide of Six Flags Astroworld and Water World. It was located near the Bamboo Shoot and Thunder River.

The Mayan Mindbender was one of the most elaborately themed experiences in the park. The outdoor queue area was full of vegetation and careful theming, and the inside was dark, mysterious, and was highlighted with giant Mayan statues and flames. The exterior of the ride was a giant pyramid, and depending on where you looked at it in the park, it looked incredible: an ancient Mayan Temple rising out of a deep, dark jungle.
